Eminem’s stalker has been convicted of first-degree home invasion and aggravated stalking after breaking into the rapper’s home for the second time.

Matthew David Hughes, 32, was found guilty on May 7 following a brief trial where Eminem himself testified about the harrowing incident. Sentencing is set for June 17.

The most recent break-in occurred last summer, and Hughes was apprehended and taken to Macomb County Jail shortly after. During a preliminary hearing in December, the court ruled that Hughes must have no contact with Eminem. Additionally, Hughes was unable to meet the \$500k bond set by the judge, keeping him behind bars throughout the trial.

This was not Hughes’ first encounter with the rapper. In 2020, Eminem awoke to find Hughes standing behind him in his home. When confronted, Hughes allegedly told the rapper he was there to kill him. Hughes ultimately reached a plea deal and was sentenced to five years of probation in September 2021. However, he was arrested later that year for simple assault, which led to a probation violation and jail time. Released on parole in May 2022, Hughes was arrested again just months later for the second break-in.

Hughes had previously been arrested in June 2019 for sleeping in the guest house of a property once owned by Eminem.

In happier news, Eminem recently became a grandfather after his daughter Hailie Jade welcomed a baby boy. Hailie shared the news on Instagram on April 4, revealing that she gave birth to a son named Evan Marshall McClintock. The middle name, Marshall, honors Eminem’s real name, Marshall Mathers.

50 Cent, a longtime family friend, congratulated Hailie on Instagram, expressing his excitement with the caption: “This is the best. WOW!”

Eminem’s adopted daughter, Alaina, also commented on the post, expressing her pride and admiration for Hailie. “I am SO proud of you and grateful you have Evan,” Alaina wrote.
