Kanye West has provided a reassuring update on Lil Uzi Vert’s health following reports of the rapper’s hospitalization in New York City earlier this week.
According to TMZ, emergency services were called to a luxury condo in Lower Manhattan on Monday afternoon (April 21) in response to a report of a “sick person.” Uzi was transported to a nearby hospital and remained under medical supervision into the following day, with few official details disclosed.
On Wednesday (April 23), Kanye West addressed the situation via X (formerly Twitter), sharing a screenshot of a text conversation with producer Digital Nas, who relayed messages from someone close to Uzi.
“UZI is okay,” Ye wrote. In the texts, one message noted, “They saying he’s dehydrated but I know there’s more to it,” followed by another that read, “Vert’s cousin just confirmed that Uzi’s okay.” Girlfriend JT was reportedly by Uzi’s side throughout the ordeal.
Meanwhile, West continues to draw scrutiny for his latest controversial endeavors. TMZ reports that the rapper is holding auditions in Los Angeles for a project dubbed the “Hooligan Choir,” which seeks “African American Males” and allegedly requires participants to be “COMFORTABLE WEARING SWASTIKAS.”
Flyers advertising the casting calls were posted near a warehouse, where West is reportedly holding rehearsals adjacent to an elementary school. Residents have expressed concern over loud music—including repeated plays of West’s tracks “Black Skinhead” and “Carnival”—and visible Nazi imagery allegedly painted on the building.
Local police confirmed that multiple complaints about noise and graffiti have been made over the past two months and that two separate reports involving swastikas are currently under investigation. As of now, Kanye West has not publicly responded to the backlash or the ongoing investigation.
