Gunna’s ties to YSL have been uncertain since he took a plea deal in the RICO case in late 2022, and things appear even more ambiguous now.
Earlier this week, a fan account noticed that Gunna’s photos and mentions had been erased from YSL’s Instagram, which suggests a possible separation.
The rapper has faced allegations of “snitching” to secure his release, though it initially seemed his relationship with Young Thug remained intact. Thug had even sought permission from the judge for Gunna to be part of his release conditions.
However, weeks later, Thugger posted and quickly deleted a message that seemed to contradict this. “Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet, I don’t know u my guy,” he wrote.
Gunna’s former lawyer, Steve Sadow, has consistently denied that the rapper cooperated with prosecutors. He made it clear that his post was not on Gunna’s behalf, but to clarify the truth.
“I was Gunna’s attorney but I am NOT speaking on his behalf. This long post is solely to set out the truth,” Sadow wrote after a song snippet from Thug emerged with what appeared to be a diss aimed at Gunna.
Sadow continued: “Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to harm Thug’s case. He spent 8 months in jail and was released in December 2022 after entering an Alford plea.”
He added: “Gunna’s plea could not and was not used at Thug’s trial and he was never named as a witness. He received a 5-year suspended sentence, with no reporting, no travel restrictions, no living restrictions, AND NO PROBATION.
“Over the last two years, from media reports, he has performed globally, gained international recognition, and earned millions.”
