Machine Gun Kelly has transformed *NSYNC’s bubblegum pop anthem “Bye Bye Bye” into an unexpected rap banger with his latest freestyle.

Teaming up with producer No Love, MGK slows down the iconic hook and lays it over moody basslines and punchy drums, while adding sharp-edged bars that hint at what’s to come from his upcoming album.

“Don’t ask me no questions like what genre this album is / I’m Gordon Ramsay cheffin’ in this kitchen — no suggestions,” he spits. “What’s my mood? Look at mood boards, I’m a lot of artists’ reference / Got a lot of sons out here, I should have used a contraceptive.”

The Cleveland native has been consistently releasing freestyles and remixes in the lead-up to the rumored summer release of his new LP — his first full-length since 2022’s Mainstream Sellout, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned a Grammy nod for Best Rock Album.

Although he found massive success in the pop-punk lane, MGK has made clear he’s feeling a pull back to his rap roots. In a 2024 interview with Marvin magazine, he said: “There is one part of my stomach that just cannot be filled by any other genre other than doing a great rap album.”

Still, he’s not interested in repeating the past. On his Discord server, MGK revealed he scrapped everything he had recorded over the past few years to carve out a new sound. “This one has to be its own planet,” he explained, comparing his past projects to distinct worlds. “I don’t want it to be another continent on the Hotel Diablo planet or another continent on the Tickets planet.”

Though he hasn’t dropped an official single yet, MGK recently revealed on X that he was shooting the cover art for the album — suggesting that the rollout may be just around the corner.

Until then, fans can check out his Instagram, where he’s been sharing a steady stream of remixes — including a mashup of Juice WRLD’s “Empty Out Your Pockets” with Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” plus new verses over his own track “LATELY.”
