A$AP Rocky has offered a strong clue about what he and Rihanna might name their third child — and it seems the couple may stick with a familiar theme.
During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers alongside Anna Wintour, the host asked the rapper if he and Rihanna planned to continue the naming trend they began with their first two children, Riot and RZA.
“Your first two kids have ‘R’ names. Obviously, you and Rihanna have ‘R’ names. Is this a lock that the third will have an ‘R’ name?” Meyers asked.
Rocky responded simply but firmly: “For sure.”
If the couple sticks with that pattern, however, it may mean backing out of a playful promise they made to Rocky’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina. After Rocky was found not guilty in his assault trial, Tacopina told Extra that the pair joked about naming their next child after him.
“They grabbed me and said, ‘Listen, our next baby is A$AP Joe,’” the attorney recounted. “I’m gonna hold you to that,” he replied at the time.
The couple confirmed Rihanna’s third pregnancy earlier this week when she revealed her baby bump at the 2025 Met Gala, where Rocky served as co-chair. Rihanna made a late and glamorous entrance, cradling her bump on the red carpet while Rocky spoke briefly with reporters.
“It is time to just show the people what we were cooking up,” he said, adding, “I’m glad everybody’s happy for us because we’re definitely happy.”
The news of a third child isn’t entirely unexpected. Rihanna has previously spoken about how much she admires Rocky as a father — and how seeing him parent deepened her love for him.
“I love him differently as a dad,” she told Access Hollywood in 2024. “This is major, major like — it’s a turn on. It’s just like, ‘Wow! What a leader, what a great, patient, loving [dad].’”
She added, “My kids are obsessed with him. I’m just a background, I’m an extra. Yep! It happens! … It doesn’t matter if it’s girls or boys — they love their dad differently, and I love to see it.”
