Innocent Darkness has produced a highly personal Original EP entitled ‘Dominion of the Stars’, which was released on 17 December 2025 as a tribute to their late mother. The EP was made after her death on 14 August 2024 and transforms the emotions of grief and loss into a personal act of remembering. It was recorded at the artist’s parental home and has the kind of intimacy that comes from being based on the memories which inspired it. Instead of appearing as a finely polished studio recording, the project has a raw and honest character which adds more significance to its purpose.

The EP was made completely without the use of artificial intelligence, employing Vital VST, Circuit TRACKS, and the Yamaha Seqtrak Black. This do-it-yourself method is at the heart of the project’s character, Innocent Darkness deciding to construct it by means of personal experimentation and creative instinct. The recording process was also influenced by walks in the forest, during which ideas for new music arose and were then developed. The link between the place, reflection, and creation is what gives the album ‘Dominion of the Stars’ a personal narrative that goes beyond the final recordings.

Innocent Darkness sees the EP as a means of creative expression rather than as an effort to achieve technical perfection; the influences cited here are Monomorte, Noire Antidote, Sidewalks and Skeletons, White Ring, and Salem, which positions the release within a dark and atmospheric electronic genre. The independent nature of the project is clearly shown by the artist’s readiness to call the work raw and by their admission that it was made through experimentation and for the sake of enjoyment. This honesty imparts a sense of individuality to the EP without trying to make it something that it wasn’t originally meant to be.

‘Dominion of the Stars’ is a personal work developed through memories, a spirit of experimentation, and the desire to transform grief into something significant. The project also shows the extent of Innocent Darkness’ creative process, the artist having mentioned that the forest walks have given rise to ideas for 60 albums. The chance to present this music to live audiences in Belgium or elsewhere in Europe represents another phase in the project’s continuous development. For those who are interested in independent electronic music with a very personal background story, ‘Dominion of the Stars’ provides a direct look at one artist’s method of coping with loss through sound.
